Summary:
The Production Manager directs and coordinates activities of production departments in processing materials or manufacturing products in an industrial organization by performing the following duties. The Plant Manager fulfills the duties of this role in case of a vacancy.

Duties and
Responsibilities:
The following duties and responsibilities are representative. Other duties may be assigned.
Establishes and maintains a strong customer focus throughout the department and in support of plant-wide operations.
Ensures high quality, cost effective products are supplied to our downstream operations and external customers on a timely basis.
Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with customers and suppliers.
Maintain Product Safety program in compliance with SQF guidelines.
Provide consistent and timely support to sister facilities to maximize the global benefit to corporate objectives.
Actively participate in capital planning, implementation and new product development efforts.
Responsible for project management of major initiatives in the plant.
Manufacture products to support optimum costs while effectively utilizing manufacturing capacity.
Establish operating indicators (metrics) which clearly measure departmental performance on a regular basis and communicate this information to upper management and critical customers.
Support the introduction of new technology.
Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
Within the department, develop and maintain an atmosphere of trust and business awareness. Insist upon fairness and equality in the application of corporate policies and treat all individuals with dignity and respect.
Establish a skilled and competent work force, focusing on team building and group problem solving.
Maintain high standards for safety and housekeeping, which results in an atmosphere that is safe and clean for all employees.
Develop strong, positive communication links between the Fitments group, Extrusion, Slitting/Lamination, Sales, Finance, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Logistics and Human Resources departments.
Responsible for overseeing food safety.

Supervisory
Responsibilities:
This role manages several subordinate supervisors in production departments and a production clerk. Responsibility is for the overall mentoring, direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and
Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering or Business.
Three (3) to five (5) years related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel is required.
