Overview:
Tech Level I :
Overview Tech LEVEL II & LEVEL III:
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures fresh to frozen food processing and packaging.
Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Performs a variety of tasks and works under general supervision.
A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
Responsibilities:
Tech Level I Duties and
Responsibilities:
Must be able to perform or acquire the following skills:
Understands the hazards of ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems.
Safely use test equipment such as ohmmeters, volt meters, amp meters, power factor meters, power tools, electrician hand tools, conduit bender, threading tools, and soldering iron.
Uses a variety of test equipment to detect source of malfunction, undertakes required repairs or modifications after evaluation.
Assist with project and equipment installations and start-up.
Assist operations in change overs.
Monitor and record system information as necessary, report any abnormal conditions, and ensure proper communication across shifts.
Perform proper Lock-out/Tag-out procedures when working on equipment.
Perform basic welding and fabrication assignments from mechanical drawings and sketches.
Diagnose, analyze, investigate, and correct basic causes of malfunction of production and plant equipment.
Keep work areas clean, neat, and orderly.
Other duties that is reasonably associated with the above functions of the job.
Tech LEVEL II Duties and
Responsibilities:
Must be able to perform or acquire the following skills:
Isolate systems of all potential energy and hazards to ensure proper Lock-out/Tag-out for maintenance work.
Tech LEVEL III Duties and
Responsibilities:
Must be able to perform or acquire the following skills:
Lead others effectively and coordinate work and ensure job duties are completed.
Act in Supervisor s role in their absence.
Diagnose, analyze, investigate, and correct all/most causes of mechanical malfunction of processing and plant equipment.
Train employees on equipment and system function.
Qualifications:
Tech Level I:
Qualifications Basic working knowledge of electrical components used in processing and packaging systems like transformers, motors, motor controls, instruments, electrical protection devices.
Furnish and use hand tools normally expected of Electrical technicians Furnish and use hand tools normally expected of mechanic technicians.
Ability to obtain working understanding of a CMMS system.
Document work completed, assign time, and assign parts to proper WO.
Good working knowledge of conveyor systems, packaging machinery, pumps, gear reduction boxes, dicers, and other processing machinery.
Must work well under pressure and insure safe performance at all times.
Must demonstrate a cooperative behavior with co-workers, supervisors, and management.
Working knowledge of GMP s within a food manufacturing facility.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Must pass CPR course within first year of hire date.
Demonstrate color proficiency.
Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret equipment schematics, drawings, manufacturer s literature, and technical procedures.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors and managers.
Must be able to attain Tech Level II at the end of their 6th year of being in maintenance department.
Must pass CPR course within first year of hire date.
Must be able to attain Maintenance Tech Level II at the end of their 6th year of being in maintenance department.
Tech LEVEL II :
Tech Level I for 3 years minimum to acquire experience and proficiency.
Knowledge and proficient use of electrical and controls calibration and testing tools.
Working knowledge of National Electric Code.
Working knowledge of electrical components used in processing and packaging systems like transformers, motors, motor controls, instruments, electrical protection devices.
Strong electrical knowledge of various components used in cold storage, food processing, and facility equipment.
Strong mechanical knowledge of various components used in cold storage, food processing, and facility equipment.
Tech LEVEL III:
Tech Level II for 3 years minimum to acquire experience and proficiency.
High Voltage training (Off Site Class) Physical Requirements:
Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
Must be able to work in a temperature range -15F to 110F.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Requires standing, stooping, twisting, lifting, and other physical movements requiring full range of motion.
Demonstrate color proficiency.
