Product Quality Engineer, Merced CA

Our Merced, California manufacturing client is looking for a fulltime Product Quality Engineer.
Primary responsibilities and tasks:
o Enhance the product quality auditing and inspection process based on findings in the factory process and in the field.
o Ensuring product/process tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated and that product/process modifications are investigated if necessary.
o Lead efforts to reduce the Defects Per Unit at all stages in the process.
o Establish and utilize a data collection system to perform analysis of defects and trends.
o Perform quality assessments of suppliers and follow up for improvement.
o Manage a receiving inspection dimensional/visual/testing process when needed in conjunction with suppliers.
o Approve new and change components from suppliers for use in the factory.
o Manage the calibration program (includes all gages, tools and instruments).
o Plan and execute the quality management system audits.
o Perform in-process product audits in all areas of the factory.
o Manage and maintain the tracking and disposition of internal scrap.
o Enhance the operator inspection sign-off process in the factory flow.
o Establish documented standards for the product and train the employees.
o Initiate Quality Alerts within the factory to communicate issues to the factory.
Knowledge and skill requirements:
o 5
years working in a manufacturing environment o 3-5 years' experience with primary duties as a Quality Engineer o Quality systems development and maintenance experience preferred o Six Sigma certification and/or Kaizen experience preferred o Strong corrective action and troubleshooting background required o Self-motivated and able to work without daily supervision o Must demonstrate ability using MS Office and CAD systems Salary is $45,000 to $60,000 depending on experience.
